Cork City residents have been advised by Uisce Éireann’s Water Quality Taskforce to continue reporting any water discolouration they experience, as the taskforce undertakes measures to resolve the issue across affected areas. In response to an increase in reports, operational teams are conducting investigative works and reactive flushing to address these concerns.

Advice for Residents

Uisce Éireann is reminding the public not to drink discoloured water. As a first step, they recommend running the tap for up to 20 minutes, as this often restores the water to a clear state. Once the water runs clear, it is deemed safe to consume. However, if the discolouration persists, customers are encouraged to contact Uisce Éireann’s 24/7 customer care helpline at 1800 278 278, as every report helps the team determine which parts of the network require flushing.

Active Areas of Concern

Teams are actively working in the following areas of Cork City to address reports of discolouration:

  • Mount Farran and its surrounding areas
  • Barrack Street, Tower Street, and Mount Sion
  • Greenmount, Bandon Road, and Gillabey

Uisce Éireann has already commenced reactive flushing in Tower Street, Barracks Street, Mount Sion Road, and Evergreen Road, and further investigations in Mount Farran have identified a potential issue with a localised valve. Efforts to address this specific issue are ongoing, with teams prioritising flushing in response to localised reports of discoloured water.

Real-Time Updates for Residents
