Severe weather conditions have left approximately 59,000 homes, farms, and businesses without power as of 5:15 pm today, primarily affecting counties Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary, Kilkenny, Carlow, Laois, and Wicklow.
Met Éireann’s Status Orange and Yellow weather warnings remain in effect, with further power outages expected throughout the evening due to the ongoing hazardous conditions. The dynamic nature of the storm and freezing temperatures have created significant challenges for ESB Networks crews working to restore electricity.
ESB Networks Statement:
“From our experience of previous significant weather events, we expect that power restoration in the worst affected areas will take multiple days. Our crews will continue the restoration for as long as possible this evening but, with the difficult conditions, it is likely that the majority of customers will not have their power restored tonight.”
ESB Networks teams, along with partner contractors, have been on the ground since early morning, working tirelessly to assess the damage and restore power where it is safe to do so. All available teams have been mobilised to manage the situation in extremely challenging conditions.
Real-time updates on power outages and estimated restoration times are available on PowerCheck.ie. Customers are encouraged to sign up for the “Keep me Updated” service to receive direct notifications on outage status.
