Jazz will take over the streets of Cork this October Bank Holiday Weekend as The Big Fringe returns as part of the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival. Kicking off on Wednesday, this year’s festival promises an unforgettable week of world-class music, with free events complementing the main ticketed shows.

From the Jazz Stroll on Oliver Plunkett Street to the Big Jazz Bus, jam sessions, jazz exhibitions, and the Kinsale Fringe, Cork will be transformed into an open-air stage with spontaneous performances and brass bands filling the air with vibrant melodies.

Festival Chairperson, Fiona Collins, shared her excitement:

“The Big Fringe is a real highlight for many festival-goers. The energy and enthusiasm of acts like Hyde Park Brass and our local talents such as Code of Behaviour always make the streets come alive, and we are delighted to bring jazz to so many communities again.”

Key highlights of the Big Fringe include:

• Jazz Stroll on Oliver Plunkett Street
• Beat on the Street performances
• Jazz Gospel Service at St. Anne’s Church, Shandon
• Jazz Jamboree at Opera House Plaza
• Jazz Festival History Walking Tour

For a soulful start to Sunday, head to the Jazz Gospel Service at St. Anne’s Church in Shandon. Additionally, those seeking electronic beats can explore events at the Liquid Lounge, while the Kinsale Fringe offers a coastal celebration of jazz with over 20 gigs.

The Big Fringe’s charity partner this year is the RNLI, celebrating 200 years of saving lives at sea, with opportunities to support their vital work throughout the weekend.
