Youghal, Co. Cork, is set to come alive with the spirit of Samhain on the 30th and 31st of October. This unique Halloween celebration blends heritage, culture, and modern traditions, offering an unforgettable experience for locals and visitors alike.

The event promises to enchant both young and old, with activities ranging from a Witchling School of Arts and Crafts to spooky storytelling by candlelight. On the 31st, the festivities continue with face painting, Trick or Treat Street, and a mystical Samhain celebration at the Mall Beach, featuring the Witches of Youghal, a Grim Reaper procession, and a farewell to An Bhean Uisce.

Event Highlights:

30th October:

• Witchling School of Arts and Crafts (1pm – 3pm, Chill – Ices and Slices): Crafty fun for young witches (€7 for 7 to 12+, €5 for 4 to 7).
• Tales by Candlelight (7pm – 9pm, Youghal Tourist Office): Immersive storytelling amidst the town’s medieval charm (Free).

31st October:

• Spooktales (11am – 12pm, Youghal Library): Spooky stories for kids in costume (Free).
• Bridewell Prison History Talk (2pm – 2.30pm, Youghal Library): Explore the prison’s history with Shirley Lougheed.
• Halloween Face Painting Extravaganza (2.30pm – 5pm, Cromwell’s Arch): Festive face painting for the kids (€2 donation).
• Trick or Treat Street (2.30pm – 5pm, Cromwell’s Arch): A Halloween adventure for children.
• Witches of Youghal Samhain Celebrations (7pm – 8pm, Mall Beach): Mystical rituals and celebrations.
• The Grim Reaper Procession (8pm – 8.30pm, Mall Beach): A haunting procession through the town.
• Farewell to An Bhean Uisce (8.30pm, Mall Beach): A beautiful closing ceremony.
