In the interest of public safety, and to accommodate the Port of Cork’s commercial shipping traffic, the Port will be fencing off sections of the City Centre quays. In a statement this morning, the Port of Cork say:

The Port of Cork would like to remind the public that the city quays are a 24/7 working Port area with commercial ships, plant and other equipment and HGV traffic in operation.

No parking is permitted not he quayside and clamping is in operation.

Fencing will be erected in the following areas:

  • Around any berthed commercial vessels.
  • Around plant or Port equipment generally stored on the quayside.
  • Around cargo stored on the quays.

There are health and safety risks associated with large public gatherings on the quays and the public are advised not to congregate in this area.

Thank you for your cooperation.
