Cork County Council is set to open applications for a new Affordable Housing Scheme in Mallow, facilitated on behalf of the Land Development Agency. Starting at 12 noon on Monday, 24th June 2024, potential homeowners can apply for new three and four-bedroom houses at Clonmore, Ballyviniter, constructed by the O’Flynn Group.

Primarily targeted at first-time buyers who do not currently own a home, and Fresh Start Applicants, this scheme presents an opportunity to purchase homes at significantly reduced prices. Located in the picturesque Blackwater Valley, the development is ideally situated within walking distance of Mallow town centre and a mature residential area.

The housing scheme includes a minimum of eight three-bedroom houses available from €275,000, a reduction of approximately 21.4% from market value. Additionally, a minimum of two four-bedroom houses will be available from €295,000, representing a 20.2% reduction from market value.

Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr. Frank O’Flynn, expressed his enthusiasm for the new scheme, stating:

“Mallow offers an excellent choice of educational and recreational facilities for families. Cork County Council is delighted to launch this Affordable Housing Scheme in Mallow. Clonmore offers A-rated homes with the convenience of urban dwelling combined with the benefits of a rural lifestyle, providing houses in a well-designed landscaped setting.”

Under the Affordable Housing Scheme, purchasers will enter into an affordable dwelling purchase arrangement with Cork County Council. This arrangement includes the Council retaining a percentage equity share in the dwelling, equal to the difference between the market value and the price paid by the purchaser, expressed as a percentage of the market value (minimum of 5%).

Applications for the scheme will be accepted online via Cork County Council’s website (www.corkcoco.ie) from 12 noon on 24th June 2024 to 12 noon on 15th July 2024. Further details, including the Scheme of Priority, application guidelines, and required documentation, are available on the website.
