Get ready for an exciting day of family-friendly activities as Volvo Cork Week kicks off with its Family Fun Day on Sunday, 14th July. From 12-5pm, the picturesque waterfront of the Royal Cork Yacht Club (RCYC) in Crosshaven will become a lively hub of nautical fun, offering a treasure trove of free activities for all ages.

Families can look forward to an array of events spanning the entire village of Crosshaven, from the RCYC to Camden Fort Meagher and beyond. The expanded Coastal Market will feature numerous local producers, offering a unique shopping experience. Visitors can also enjoy scenic coastal walks and boat trips from the Custom House on the Cailin Ór.

Children can participate in a colouring competition with fantastic prizes up for grabs, while adults and kids alike can enjoy the famous Piper’s Funfair. Additionally, Red FM’s Colm O’Sullivan will broadcast his afternoon show live from the RCYC from 2-6pm, adding to the day’s festive atmosphere.

The Family Fun Day marks the beginning of a week-long celebration of nautical sports and activities for Volvo Cork Week 2024. From Monday 15th to Friday 19th July, visitors can witness thrilling races, including the 1720 European Championships and the renowned Beaufort Cup, featuring international participants from the USA, Ecuador, and other countries. This race, designed for international uniformed service personnel, will include a challenging route around the Fastnet Rock and back to Cork.

For those wanting to catch a glimpse of the Harbour Race on Wednesday 17th July, recommended viewing points include Camden and Church Bay in Crosshaven, the new Haulbowline Island Amenity Park, Ringaskiddy, and the promenade in Cobh.
