Excitement is building in Mallow, as we lead up to the ‘Light Up Mallow’ festival, the annual event held when switching on the Christmas lights. Follow along on Mallow Chamber’s Facebook and Instagram pages, for daily updates on Santie’s travels as he makes his way to Mallow. Word is that a sinister green fella has been up to no good, and we need all our little helpers to keep an eye out and make sure Christmas is saved.
To share in the fun and frolics, join us on Friday 24 November from 4 pm on the Main Street. Come and meet all your favourite characters, share in story time at the library, and be sure to have your Santa Letter stamped by the Christmas elves outside Town Hall. Join in carol singing with the choir from Gaelscoil Thomais Daibhis, and enjoy live entertainment as your browse the shops or stop for a bite to eat. It will be the perfect time to start stocking up for the Christmas tree and pantry. From 5:15, you can follow the Christmas Parade, starting down town at Food Capers, up to St Mary’s Church, where the lights will be switched on at 6pm.
The event is being organised by Mallow Chamber of Commerce and Cork County Council, and supported by CDYS and An Garda Siochana. With the support of local businesses – who sponsor the festivities every year – Mallow will be transformed into a Magic Wonderland. Each year sees locals, as well as visitors from far and wide come to admire the exceptional Christmas lights display, regarded the most beautiful in North Cork.
Come along to enjoy all your old favourites, and look out for a few surprises. Don’t miss out!
