The Samhain Town family event, held in Longford’s Connolly Barracks on Saturday, 26 October and Sunday, 27 October, promises spooky fun for all ages. Visitors can enjoy new entertainment acts alongside the returning favourites like the haunted house and pumpkin patch. With two sessions available each day (12pm-2.30pm and 3pm-5.30pm), tickets are priced at just €5 per child, which includes free entry for one adult, and under 2s get in for free. Pumpkins are available for an additional €4 each, but supply is limited, so early booking on TicketTailor.ie is advised.

Fire and Shadows Procession: A Must-See Spectacle

If you’re staying until the Bank Holiday Monday, make sure to catch the highlight of the weekend—the Fire and Shadows Procession on Monday, 28 October at 7pm. This free event begins on Earl Street and weaves through Main Street before reaching Connolly Barracks, where a fire beacon finale awaits. The procession will feature stunning floats inspired by the local legend of Midir and Étain, designed by local artists and performed by 100 local participants alongside the acclaimed Spraoi Waterford group.

Cllr Mark Casey, Cathaoirleach of Longford County Council, expressed his excitement about the festival, saying:

“The Dead of Night is going from strength to strength, and I cannot wait to see all the surprises in store this year. Longford is the place to be for Halloween, with low-cost and free events that offer something for everyone.”

The festival, supported by Fáilte Ireland, promises a fun and engaging mix of community spirit, artistic performances, and Halloween-themed entertainment, making it the perfect option for those wanting a short break from Cork.
