Irish Water is working with Cork County Council to restore water as quickly as possible to properties in Freemount and surrounding areas following issues at Freemount Water Treatment Plant.

Dedicated water service crews have mobilised and are progressing repairs which are expected to be completed later this morning. Typically it takes two to three hours after this to restore normal supply to all customers affected by an unplanned outage. Some customers located on higher ground and extremities of the network will experience low pressure and outages for a number of hours until reservoir levels recover.

Pat Britton, Irish Water, said:

The repairs are being completed as quickly and efficiently as possible to minimise disruption to the area and restore water for all customers. We understand the inconvenience unplanned outages can have on customers and we appreciate your patience as we work to return the water supply to all as quickly as possible.

Vulnerable customers who have registered with Irish Water receive direct communications from us for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.

Irish Water understands the inconvenience unplanned outages can have on customers and thanks them for their patience while we complete repairs and restore normal water supply.
