Cork Kerry Community Healthcare provides more than quarter of a million hours of home support each month (284,000 in July 2022). Cork Kerry Community Healthcare is working to maximise recruitment opportunities for the Home Support service so that we can provide a high quality service at home for those who need it.

Successful applicants will enjoy:

  • Attractive rates of pay with a salary scale of €29,710 to €38,290
  • Job security and access to a pension scheme
  • Paid travel time and expenses
  • Full-time or part-time employment with contracts of up to 39 hours a week available.
  • Ongoing training and support, and the chance to develop your career within the HSE.

HCSA Recruitment Co-ordinator Noreen Cremin explains that HCSAs provide a vital role in their communities, enhancing the quality of life of older people living at home, and enabling them to stay in their own homes longer than might otherwise be possible:

The service that Health Care Support Assistants provide to people in their own communities is a hugely valued service. I think now more than ever the general public and the health services itself really appreciate the service that Health Care Support Assistants  can provide by enabling people to live at home, safely and for as long as is reasonably possible.

She added that there are huge benefits to working with the HSE, including progression opportunities and very significant support from managers to support people in their day to day work.

HCSA Tim Moynihan retrained to work in the health services, and in the video says that he finds his career incredibly rewarding:

A wise man once said that you’re happy if someone does something for you, but you’re a lot happier if you do something for somebody else,” Tim said, adding that many people depend on the Home Support teams collectively and on the individual members of the team.

There is a huge appreciation out there once you build up the trust of the client. Trust has to be two-way. That experience alone is very rewarding,” he said.

The biggest thing when we go into someone’s house is that we have respect for that person going in the door.
