The Glashaboy Flood Relief Scheme is entering its next phase, with crucial updates affecting traffic management and the scheduling of overnight works. Sorensen, the construction company overseeing the project, has announced several key developments designed to minimize disruption and ensure the safety of local residents and stakeholders.

Overnight Works at Hazelwood Shopping Centre

Starting on Monday, 8th April, overnight works will be undertaken within Hazelwood Shopping Centre. These essential operations aim to install new drainage systems, marked in yellow on project plans, beginning outside O’Connor’s Funeral Home and extending towards Bean & Leaf. The new drainage is a critical component of the flood relief scheme, eventually connecting to a new pumping station slated for construction in the coming months. The works, conducted from 7pm to 7am, Monday to Friday, are expected to last approximately four weeks.

Sorensen has scheduled these works during nighttime to lessen the impact on businesses and patrons in the Hazelwood area. However, residents and visitors are advised of possible noise and restricted access around the construction zones. Sorensen assures that access to operational businesses during these hours will be maintained.

Traffic Management Updates

To accommodate these works, there will be changes in traffic management across several areas, effective from Monday, 8th April:

  • Hazelwood Road/R639: Implementation of a Stop/Go system from 7am to 7pm, transitioning to traffic lights from 7pm to 7am.
  • New Line/Brooklodge East: Similar traffic measures will be in place, with a Stop/Go system during the day and traffic lights overnight.
  • Copper Valley Vue: Continuation of works within the area, with internal traffic management strategies applied.
  • Sallybrook Industrial Estate: Traffic management measures are temporarily suspended.
  • Bleach Hill/Cúil Chluthair: Temporary traffic management will be active from 8th to 10th April during reinstatement works.

Sorensen extends its gratitude to the community for its patience and cooperation as these significant works progress.
