The Gym

noun, (also formal gymnasium[countable] a room or hall with equipment for doing physical exercise, for example in a school.

A place to meet and train with friends, or a place of tranquility for others but a place of guaranteed hard work – you really can’t beat a good session at your local gym. Gyms were closed for what felt like forever, at least for us here at Cork Safety Alerts but even more so for the owners and trainers around the country.

We caught up with Eoin Galvin, owner of Fit to the Point in Ballincollig who gave his experience of the closure during the lockdowns:

I am absolutely delighted to be back open.

It’s great to see so many other businesses back open and so many people going back to the gyms. It really shows how much people missed the routine and benefits of going to the gym.

There has been an unbelievable buzz since I re-opened and to see everyone again in person has been great and such a positive boost especially after being closed for so long.

Not only do people miss the physical aspect of going back to the gym but they also miss the social aspect and even more so now with so many people working from home the only person they might meet and chat to in person outside of their household is their coach or other people in the gym

This is why the gym is such a great place not only is it good for you physically but the many mental benefits really highlight the importance of them in so many peoples lives.
