On Sunday, October 27th, at 2 pm, the Metropole Hotel in Cork will host a captivating performance from the new music act, Frankly My Dear, led by songstress Helen O’Dwyer and her talented dancers. This chic and cheeky ensemble blends elements of Jazz and Broadway, offering an unforgettable experience filled with glitz, glamour, and the vibrant energy of the roaring twenties.

Frankly My Dear’s show is set to be a feast for jazz lovers, combining seductive jazz melodies with high-energy swing tunes. The act pays tribute to iconic artists such as Peggy Lee, Shirley Bassey, Dean Martin, and Frank Sinatra, capturing the spirit of old Hollywood with a few contemporary twists. Expect hits like Fever, Mack the Knife, and Ain’t That a Kick in the Head, along with sultry renditions of modern favourites like Valerie and Flowers, all reimagined with a jazzy flair.

The performance is elevated by glamorous costume changes, dazzling gowns, flapper styles, and expert choreography that weaves skilled dancers in and out of the music. Featuring iconic numbers like All That Jazz from Chicago, the show brings an exuberant atmosphere filled with high-energy dance and theatrical charm. One standout moment is a spellbinding arrangement of Radiohead’s Creep, showcasing Helen’s powerful vocals and Frankly My Dear’s unique sound.

Frankly My Dear has already made its mark in Cork, supporting local charities like The Hope Foundation and Cliona’s Foundation with performances at gala events. Their recently released Christmas EP, in aid of Cliona’s Foundation, is available on major platforms, with proceeds going directly to help families caring for children with life-limiting illnesses.

Frankly My Dear encapsulates the spirit of the jazz age with a modern twist, creating an immersive cabaret experience full of feathers, fans, and props. This performance promises to be a highlight of the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival, where audiences will be treated to a spectacular show of music, dance, and elegance.
