Uisce Éireann wishes to advise customers in Clonakilty and surrounding areas that nighttime restrictions are in place from 11.30pm tonight to 6.30am, tomorrow October 1 in order to maintain a daytime supply. In particular, high ground areas will experience a reduction in pressure and flow during the restrictions.

Speaking about the restrictions, Uisce Éireann’s Niall O’Riordan said:

“These restrictions are required due to a marked deterioration in the quality of the raw water supply and associated operational issues following yesterday’s status orange weather warning. The measures are being put in place to ensure sufficient water supply to homes and businesses during daytime hours. We understand the inconvenience nighttime restrictions can cause and want to thank the community for their understanding. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates.”

Homes and businesses are being asked to be mindful of their water usage and conserve water to allow supply to catch up with demand. Customers can find useful water saving tips on our website www.water.ie/conserve. This also includes an easy-to-use conservation calculator so you can work out how much water you are currently saving and how to conserve even more.
