€21,000 in cash seized in Midleton following search of a car at a checkpoint at Knockgriffin

Gardaí have arrested a man and seized €21,000 in cash in Midleton, Co. Cork on May 21, 2020.

Shortly before 12 midday Gardaí from Midleton were carrying out a checkpoint in the Knockgriffin area when they stopped and searched a car.

The driver, a man in his 20s, was found to be in possession of approximately €21,000 in cash. The cash, two mobile phones and a designer jacket were seized and the man was arrested.

He was brought to Midleton Garda Station where he detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984. He has since been release and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
