Gardaí at Anglesea Street attended at Carey’s Lane in Cork City centre this evening, Tuesday 9th March 2021, where at approximately 7pm a man in his 50s was found deceased.

Emergency Services attended and the man was formally pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

His body has since been removed to the mortuary at Cork University Hospital where a post-mortem examination will be arranged.

The Coroner has been notified. Gardaí await the result of the post-mortem examination to determine the course of their investigation.
