Cork County Council has awarded an allocation of €40,000 to 21 different groups throughout the county through its Creative Ireland Grant Scheme 2021.
Funded by Creative Ireland, the scheme is designed to support local communities and the creative sector to develop and deliver an innovative project, event or initiative that will help stimulate and enable creativity in every community.
Mayor of County Cork, Cllr. Mary Linehan Foley welcomed the announcement saying,
This is the fifth year of the Creative County Cork Grant Scheme, which has successfully supported numerous diverse and innovative projects over the years. This funding will provide a welcome boost for the successful projects and will enable a range of innovative initiatives to further stimulate creative activity throughout County Cork. I look forward to seeing the completed projects and the positive effects that will follow for the wider community.
A total of €40,000 in funding will be divided between the 21 successful applicant organisations, which include Doneraile Arts FesT; Ballinascarthy Remembers; Ballinspittle Comhaltas; Bantry Creates; Bere Island Women Create; Clonakilty Community Resource Centre; Comharchumann Chléire Teoranta; Cork Craft & Design; Cork Film Centre/ Cork Young Filmmakers; Cumann na Daoine; Dáimh Amhránaíochta Acadamh Fódhla; Ellen Hutchins Festival; Greywood Arts CLG; Kanturk Arts Festival; Kilmurry Historical and Archaeology Association; Macroom School of Art; Midleton Arts Festival; Mitchelstown Lithuanian Arts and Crafts Community Group; Owenabue Arts Collective; Sirius Arts Centre and Youghal 2020 – St Mary’s 800.
The grant scheme is supported by Creative Ireland, a national five-year programme which connects people, creativity and wellbeing. It is an all-of-government culture and wellbeing programme that inspires and transforms people, places and communities through creativity. Creative Ireland is committed to the vision that every person in Ireland should have the opportunity to realise their full creative potential.
