Cork County Mayor Cllr Joe Carroll extended warm congratulations to the dedicated volunteers and Tidy Towns champions of County Cork, celebrating their remarkable achievements at this year’s SuperValu TidyTowns awards held at Croke Park in Dublin.
With an impressive 26 medals awarded to communities across County Cork, the county shone brightly, with Bere Island and Sherkin Island receiving special accolades. The Ballineen and Enniskeane TidyTowns Association achieved national recognition by taking home the prestigious Waters and Communities Award.
Mayor Carroll shared his gratitude for these achievements, saying:
“I would like to express my thanks to all the volunteers in towns and villages across County Cork who give up their time to make their local areas more vibrant, beautiful, and inviting places to live, work, and visit. A massive well done to the winners – you truly are champions, an inspiration to us all, and can be very proud of what you have achieved. I would also like to congratulate our neighbours in Ballincollig, who were named Ireland’s Tidiest Town at the special ceremony in Croke Park.”
The TidyTowns competition, now in its 66th year, saw over 900 towns competing for honours. Since its inception in 1958, the initiative has been an emblem of community pride and environmental enhancement across Ireland.
