Mayor of the County of Cork Cllr. Mary Linehan Foley welcomes Minister Heather Humphreys TD’s announcement of towns and villages to benefit from new Covid 19 supports.

“The department of Rural and Community Development has announced the first towns and villages to benefit from new COVID-19 supports, and Cork County Council welcomes news that 4 initiatives across the county are set to benefit from €104,000.

This support will enable the creation of an accessible community garden in a protected structure in Youghal; the enhancement of a public amenity area in Rathcormac with seating, picnic benches and improved pedestrian access; a revamp of Macroom town which will include street furniture and the refurbishment of public toilets, the Town Hall exterior and the Castle gates; and the purchase of 2 marquees with amplification equipment for use in hosting all weather community events in West Cork.

All of the supported initiatives will help stimulate local economic and community efforts, and go hand in hand with the Council’s many initiatives under Project ACT to support community and business life in Cork County in this crucial time. We look forward to continued work alongside the Department to ensure that Cork County is a safe, supportive and welcoming place for all.”
