- County-wide callout for businesses to celebrate their achievements
Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr. Frank O’Flynn, invites businesses from diverse sectors and sizes to participate in the first-ever “Best in Cork” Awards. The awards aim to acknowledge and celebrate the essential role that businesses and tourism providers play in enhancing life in County Cork.
Highlighting Innovation and Sustainability
The awards will particularly focus on the resilience and inventive spirit of Cork’s business community. Finalists will be selected by an independent panel of judges with a sharp eye on sustainability measures like energy-saving, waste reduction, and eco-conscious practices.
Awards Ceremony
The celebration will culminate in a grand gala at Vertigo, Cork County Hall, on Thursday, January 25th. At this event, Mayor O’Flynn will unveil the winner of the Mayor’s Best Overall Business Award.
“Businesses are the lifeblood of our towns, villages, and communities in County Cork. There are incredible businesses with fascinating stories waiting to be told and we want to celebrate them,” said Mayor Flynn.
Categories and Divisional Awards
The award categories are as follows:
- Best Start-Up (established within the past 2 years)*
- Best Small Business (less than 10 staff)*
- Best Medium Size Business (less than 80 staff)*
- Best Large Business (over 80 staff)*
- Best Connection to Community
- Best Green Innovation (Business)
- Best Green Innovation (Tourism)
- Best Tourist Attraction (Free admission)
- Best Tourist Attraction (Admission charge)
The Mayor will select the Best Overall Business from among the nine category winners. Divisional awards for Best Start-Up, Best Small, Medium, and Large Size Business will also be presented, with winners in North Cork, West Cork, and East Cork being announced at special lunches in December.
How to Enter
The application deadline for Best Start-Up, Best Small, Best Medium, and Best Large Business is at 5.00 pm on Sunday, October 15th. Entries for remaining categories will be accepted until Sunday, November 12th. Interested businesses can apply via the Cork County Council’s website: www.corkcoco.ie.
