Cork City Council has alerted the public to a rise in fraudulent activity involving QR code stickers appearing on parking meters, particularly in the Dublin area. These fraudulent QR codes direct users to fake websites, posing a risk to those attempting to pay for parking.

The Council is keen to clarify that it does not use QR code stickers for parking payments at any of its facilities, whether on public roads, in car parks, or at Park & Ride locations.

For legitimate parking payments in Cork City, the following methods are available:

  • Displaying a parking disc purchased from authorised retailers for on-street parking.
  • Using the Cork City Park by Phone app or the dedicated telephone number for on-street payments.
  • Paying by cash or card at pay machines in Douglas.
  • Paying by cash or card at pay stations in Paul Street Car Park, North Main Street Car Park, or the Black Ash Park & Ride.

The Council emphasises that any QR codes seen on parking meters are not genuine and should not be used. For more information on how to pay for parking in Cork City, visit the Council’s official website.
