Cork City Council is inviting applications from city centre-based businesses, institutions, local community-based groups and residents associations to its City Centre Placemaking Fund.  This is open to those who want to be involved in ongoing work that contributes to the greening of the urban streets and encourages biodiversity in the city centre.

Funding of between €100 and €500 is available per grant. The Council may provide funding to the amount of 70% of the total cost subject to a maximum amount of 500 euro.   Where a number of businesses or groups submit a joint application, the funding will be assessed giving consideration to the number of joint applicants.  The application form can be downloaded from www.corkcity.ie

Lord Mayor of Cork, Cllr. Colm Kelleher, welcomed this year’s funding announcement, saying:

Cork City Centre is at an exciting phase, there’s a lot of new development underway right now and yet to come.  It’s important to ensure a sense of place is not lost, as it’s at the heart of creating a vibrant, living city centre.  Over the years the City Council has been working with community groups and businesses to enhance their areas and there have been fantastic results that truly enhance the city centre experience.  This fund will build on the momentum behind this, making our city centre a greener and even more enjoyable place to live, work and relax in.
