As part of the ongoing Celtic Interconnector Project, Sorensen, the contractors responsible for on-land cable works, are moving into Phase Two of their works on Section I (Road Number R-626 – Ballyedmond, Carrigogna, Midleton). This project includes the installation of ducting and joint bays along the N25, facilitating the future cabling installation from Churchtown Junction (North) to Castlemartyr. Currently, 75 per cent of this work is complete, and Sorensen has expressed their gratitude to residents and drivers for their patience.
Phase Two Details:
Starting from Monday, 30th September, the works will transition into Phase Two, affecting the R-626 in Carrigogna, Co. Cork. The road closure for this phase is indicated in red on the attached diversion map, with the suggested alternative routes marked in green and orange.
Key updates on additional works include:
- Culvert Capacity Increase: This week, work began to increase the capacity of an existing culvert in Ballyspillane. These remedial works aim to reduce the risk of future flooding, with the road expected to reopen by Friday, 4th October.
- Woodstock Hill Reinstatement: Reinstatement work continues on Woodstock Hill, where the final joint bay is being backfilled. Traffic lights at this location are anticipated to be removed by the end of next week or early the following week.
