Bunscoil Mhuire’s Síolta Beaga class has recently launched its ‘BEE Kind’ initiative including a special BEE Kind Day which will take place on Wednesday, 15th February.

This community kindness initiative is being organised by the pupils of Ms. Conway’s Síolta Beaga, a special class for children who have Autism in Bunscoil Mhuire.

The unique idea came from the pupils who are participating in this year’s national Junior Entrepreneur Programme where they had to devise, develop and produce a product or concept for the programme.

The aim of the initiative is to promote community kindness, raise funds for Cork Penny Dinners and of course for the pupils to become successful entrepreneurs!

The team have developed and designed a special mascot, Benny Bee, who will feature throughout the project – the pupils want Benny Bee to spread kindness throughout Youghal on February the 15th!

As part of this initiative, the pupils have developed 2 bespoke BEE Kind products –

BEE Kind Badge

A specially designed and printed BEE Kind badge (featuring Benny BEE) will be available to buy at a cost of €2.

BEE Kind Card Pack

A pack of 5 cards & envelopes featuring unique artworks by the pupils that have been inspired by their favourite places in Youghal will also be available to buy at a cost of €6 per pack or 2 packs for €10.

The pupils have agreed that a percentage of the proceeds from the sale of both products will be donated to Cork Penny Dinners to support the wonderful work they do.

Badges and cards will be on sale in Brookes SuperValu Youghal on Friday 3rd February, in Lidl on Saturday 4th of February, at the Bunscoil Mhuire Coffee Morning on Friday 10th of February and in Tesco on Saturday 11th of February.

Packs of cards will also be available to buy in Read & Write and Youghal Credit Union.

Síolta Beaga would like to see local businesses and organisations participate in the BEE Kind initiative by buying sets of badges for their staff/ organising a kindness day activity/ raffle/ promotion.

Ms. Conway, teacher, Síolta Beaga said “We are hoping that the people of Youghal will embrace our BEE Kind initiative, buy our BEE Kind products and BEE Kind to everyone on Wednesday the 15th of February – it has been wonderful to see the pupils work so hard on this great initiative”.

If your business or organisation would like to participate in the BEE Kind initiative please contact, Susan Conway at [email protected] to receive a BEE Kind kit and who knows Benny Bee might just pay you a visit on February 15th!

The BEE Kind initiative is sponsored by Youghal Credit Union, Lidl, Perks, Brookes SuperValu, Boardwalk Coffee & Flanagan Print.
