The man is his 40’s detained at Mayfield Garda Station has been charged in relation to this incident. He will appear before Cork District Court at 10:30am this morning 12/09/2019.

The woman in her 50’s remains in custody at Togher Garda Station.


Update Sunday 8th September 2019 @ 17:15:

The post mortem examination has now been completed on the body of the man in his 50s who was discovered in a house on the Bandon Rd in Cork City yesterday morning, Saturday 7th September 2019. For operational reasons investigating Gardaí are not releasing the details of the post mortem. A full murder investigation has now been launched.

Investigating Gardaí are renewing their appeal for information and are anxious to speak to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the Bandon Road / McCurtain Villas area of Cork City between Monday 2nd September and Saturday 7th September 2019 and to anyone who may have dash cam footage to please contact the incident room at Anglesea Street on 021-4522000, the Garda Confidential Line 1 800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

Gardaí at Anglesea Street in Cork are appealing for information following the discovery of the body of a man in his 50s in a house on the Bandon Road, Cork City.

Investigating officers are anxious to speak to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the Bandon Road / McCurtain Villas area of Cork City between Monday 2nd September and Saturday 7th September 2019 and to anyone who may have dash cam footage to please contact the incident room at Anglesea Street on 021-4522000, the Garda Confidential Line 1 800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

The body of the deceased was removed this evening to the morgue at Cork University Hospital. A post mortem examination will be carried out by the Assistant State Pathologist Dr. Linda Mulligan tomorrow, Sunday 8th September 2019.


 

Gardaí are investigating all circumstances surrounding the discovery of the body of a man in his 50s in a house on the Bandon Rd, Cork City.

The man’s body was discovered by Gardaí shortly after 11.30am today, Saturday 7th September 2019.

The scene is currently being examined by members of the Divisional Scenes of Crime Unit. The office of the State Pathologist has been notified and a post-mortem examination is due to be carried out tomorrow.

Enquires are ongoing and the course of the investigation will be determined by the outcome of the post-mortem.
