Gardaí investigating an incident of criminal damage at a property in Shanakiel and a road traffic collision on the Churchfield Road in Cork on Friday, 23rd August 2024 have this morning arrested a male.

The man, aged in his 20s, is currently detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939 at a Garda Station in the Southern Region.

The male pedestrian (60s) who was taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment following the collision remains in hospital at this time in a serious condition.

Gardaí continue to appeal to anyone with information in relation to these incidents or road users with video footage to contact them.
