Shauna O’Sullivan, a 25-year-old pharmacist from Araglen, has been chosen to represent Cork at the prestigious International Rose of Tralee Festival. She will join 31 other International Roses from 16-20 August 2024 in this world-renowned event.

Shauna was selected from a pool of 23 entrants at the Cork Rose Selection, held at the Rochestown Park Hotel on June 8th. A recent graduate of University College Cork, Shauna holds a Master’s Degree in Pharmacy and currently works in her hometown of Fermoy as well as serving as a locum pharmacist in Cork City. She takes immense pride in her profession, cherishing the opportunity to make a positive impact on her patients and the wider community.

Upon her selection, Shauna expressed her surprise and gratitude:

“When my name was announced on Saturday night, I really couldn’t believe it and I’m still trying to process it! I am so honoured to be chosen to represent Cork at the International Rose of Tralee Festival and I can’t wait to be an ambassador for the Rebel County over the next 12 months. I am so grateful to O’Sullivan’s Pharmacy for sponsoring me for the Cork Rose Selection and to everyone in the Cork Rose Centre for giving all of us entrants a magical and memorable experience.”

The International Rose of Tralee Festival is a celebration of the “aspirations, ambitions, intellect, social responsibility, and Irish heritage” of modern young women. The 32 Roses will participate in a week-long festival filled with parades, gala functions, entertainment, televised selection nights, a Rose Tour, and more. The 2024 Rose of Tralee will be crowned at the Kerry Sports Academy facility in the MTU in Tralee, with the event broadcast live on RTÉ on Tuesday, 20th August.

The Rose of Tralee Festival continues to be a flagship family event in Ireland, showcasing the talents and achievements of young women from Irish communities worldwide.
