19:50 14/04/2019 Update from Cork County Council:

The Status Orange Rainfall Warning for Cork is still in place and is valid until 6pm tomorrow. Cork County Council’s Severe Weather Assessment Team convened for a second time this evening and whereas no major incidents have been reported they will continue to monitor the situation. Council crews will be out over night to inspect areas suspectible to flooding. Motorists should continue to exercise caution while driving.

  • Hazardous driving conditions expected, with flooding possible. Rainfall amounts will be highest along the south coast and about higher ground.

21:10 Update from Cork County Council:

Met Eireann has issued a Status Orange Rainfall Warning for Cork valid from 6pm today until 6pm on Monday 15th April. Cork County Council’s Severe Weather Assessment Team convened this evening to assess and monitor the situation. Council Crews will be out in the morning to inspect areas that are suspectible to flooding. Motorists and pedestrians should be aware of hazardous driving conditions and should exercise caution. Cork County Council will continue to monitor the situation over the weekend.


Update: Met Éireann have issued a status orange – rainfall warning for Cork, valid from Saturday 13 April 2019 18:00 to Monday 15 April 2019 18:00.

  • In the 48 hour period from Saturday evening to Monday evening, a spell of heavy rain through Saturday night and Sunday followed by a second spell of heavy rain later on Sunday night and Monday will give large rainfall amounts.
  • Flooding and hazardous driving conditions in many areas. Rainfall amounts will be highest along the south coast and in mountainous areas.

  • Forecasters are warning that between 25 and 45mm of rainfall expected. The potential for higher amounts in mountainous areas.
