The Art Library

Artist Deirdre Frost creates new paintings in collaboration with members of Cork City Partnership Knocknaheeny, as part of the Commemoration Fund from Cork City Council. Together, artist and community explored their relationship to Cork city, and the changes that have occurred during their lifetime with a particular focus on the built environment. The Memory of Place paintings are now part of the UCC Art Collection and are available for short-term loan through The Art Library.

The artworks are currently on loan to Knocknaheeny Community Centre.

The Art Library is an innovative approach to sharing art and knowledge driven by the principles of creativity, inclusion and participation.

Whether a child in a rural classroom, a resident in a nursing home, or a family living in supported accommodation – for many people, access to artworks presented in museums and galleries may seem beyond their reach. Through The Art Library, communities will have the opportunity to encounter original works of art and access inspiring educational materials that combined enable them to engage with the relevant issues of our time with, and through, art.

The Art Library is supported by the Arts Council of Ireland.
