Over 4,000 third level students will be in attendance at the MTU Careers Fair 2022 which is taking place in the Nexus Hall on the MTU Bishopstown campus today, Thursday 13th October, from 10.30am to 3pm.  Representatives from 120 leading companies, including Apple, Johnson and Johnson, and Musgraves, will be on hand throughout the day to engage with students and discuss future career opportunities. This free event sees employers attending from across a diverse range of range of sectors including business, pharmaceuticals, construction, retail, engineering, environmental, social care, and IT.  Annmarie MacFeely, Careers Officer at MTU said:

The MTU Careers Fair is a fantastic opportunity for students to talk to employers face to face, especially after covid, and find out what sectors are growing, what jobs are on offer and how to get them. It’s also a great way to network as we know only 25% of jobs are actually advertised.

This year, MTU students can avail of exciting new initiatives developed by the MTU Careers Office to assist students in navigating the Careers Fair to their best advantage, such as the MTU How to Smash it as a Careers Fair Video (which was designed specifically for MTU students to help them make a great impression on the day) and the MTU CAREERSconnect platform that enables students to set up a profile and access, and be alerted to, all career information that is directly relevant to them. The Careers Service team has also introduced a suite of online career planning tools called MyCareer which includes an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Curriculum Vitae scan and an AI mock interview practice with personalised feedback. The MTU Careers Service offers a full career planning and management service that empowers and prepares students to successfully transition into life after college.  Further information on the MTU Careers Fair is available at https://www.mtu.ie/news/autumn-careers-fair-2022-cork-campus.
