A total of 129 businesses have been recognised with the prestigious Ireland’s Best Managed Companies (BMC) accolade at the 16th annual awards programme. This year, Deloitte celebrated 129 indigenous companies, representing 28 of the 32 counties across the island of Ireland, acknowledging their exceptional management and growth.

The winners, representing a range of sectors from technology and healthcare to construction, boast a combined turnover of more than €15 billion and provide employment to over 45,000 people across Ireland. Cork was particularly well represented, with 10 local companies being awarded the BMC accolade. One notable Cork-based winner, Clonakilty Food Co., achieved Gold Standard status for the fourth consecutive year.

Thorough Judging Process

Each year, a rigorous judging process precedes the awards, evaluating the entire management team and business strategy of each company. Areas such as environmental, social, and governance standards, strategic planning, and talent management are assessed by the judging panel, which this year included esteemed professionals such as Frank Ryan, former Chairman of IDA Ireland, and Professor Anthony Brabazon, Dean of UCD Michael Smurfit Business School.

New Winners and Established Champions

This year, 13 new companies joined the ranks of Ireland’s Best Managed Companies, including Active8 Solar Energies, Ashdale Care, and Ethos Engineering. Additionally, 116 companies requalified for the status, with 19 achieving Gold Standard (four consecutive years as a BMC) and 12 attaining the Platinum Standard (seven consecutive years).

Brian Murphy, Lead Partner for Ireland’s Best Managed Companies Awards Programme, praised the award winners, stating:

“The Irish economic growth story has been extraordinary, and we see this evidenced in the success of Irish indigenous businesses and the confidence shown by Best Managed Companies. Ensuring Ireland’s entrepreneurs and the companies they start get the support they need to grow and scale is crucial.”

Cathy Bryce

, Managing Director of AIB Capital Markets, expressed pride in AIB’s involvement, saying:

“AIB is proud to be the new lead sponsors of Ireland’s Best Managed companies. One of AIB’s core ambitions is to support Irish companies and their management teams in sustainable growth and development, something which is fully aligned with the goals of the BMC programme.”

The Importance of the BMC Programme

The BMC programme, run by Deloitte, is the only award scheme in Ireland that evaluates companies from all perspectives of business performance. Since its inception in Canada in 1993, the programme has grown internationally and is now run in over 40 countries.
