Met Éireann have issued a Weather Advisory nationwide, which is valid from 18:00 Sunday 26/01/2020 to 15:00 Tuesday 28/01/2020
- Forecasters are stating that cold and wintry weather will develop from Sunday evening. Showers of hail, sleet and snow will occur in places. Snow showers most frequent in Ulster and Connacht and especially so on high ground.

We asked Weather Alerts Ireland for their input on the weather that’s expected, and here’s their forecast:
From Sunday colder air will push into Ireland making temperatures drop below average.
Temperatures in the upper atmosphere will drop to -4 to -6 degrees. This colder air looks to turn rain into wintry showers including snow, hail and sleet. This cold spell is expected to last until Wednesday.
A few showers could turn wintry overnight Sunday bringing some snow but not everywhere will see these showers.
Wintry showers could affect Cork on Monday as showers move in from the West and die off as they move inland with the West of Cork seeing the highest chance of snow. Parts of Kerry could see 3cm on higher ground and upto 3cm on lower ground.
More showers possible on Tuesday and these turning wintry again in parts. Temperatures will drop to around and below zero and road temperatures look to drop to around freezing also leading to dangerous driving conditions from Sunday to Wednesday.
Warmer weather looks to push in from Wednesday and windy weather expected later this week.
