The Fire at Douglas Village Shopping Centre has been extinguished, and fire crew remain on scene to monitor the building. It’s thought that up to 60 vehicles were damaged last night.
Restrictions remain in place in the Douglas area this morning. The Link Road between Douglas east and west is closed, also Church Road.
The N40 South Ring Road, westbound, is down to one lane. Between Mahon and the Kinsale Road Roundabout.
The fire was contained to one section of cars on the first floor of the multi-storey car park. Photos of the aftermath in the tweet below:

– Fire fighters say the blaze at the car park in #Douglas #Cork is under control.
– They prevented it from spreading to the shopping centre.
– One fire fighter taken to hospital for treatment for a minor sprain injury.

The link road between #Douglas East and Douglas west has now been closed as emergency services deal with the fire in Douglas Village Shopping Centre.
Gardaí are urging motorists to take care in the area as visibility is being affected in the Douglas area, as far as the N40 South Ring Road.
