Met Eireann have issued an updated Weather Advisory for Cork:
- High or very high seas are going to affect the Atlantic Seaboard over the next few days, leading to an increased risk of coastal flooding.
Valid until 09:00 hours Thu, 18-Jan-2018.
Met Éireann has issued a status yellow, wind warning for Cork.
- Forecasters are saying westerly winds will reach mean winds speeds of 50 to 65 km/h with gusts of 90 to 110km/h at times. Winds will moderate for a time during Wednesday but further wind warnings likely for Wednesday night.

A period of unsettled, wet, stormy and possibly snowy weather is expected next week – Wednesday/Thursday said to be the worst of the week in terms of wind or stormy weather.
Rain / sleet and snow is expected on Tuesday; as the following chart provided by Cork – All Things Weather shows:
Met Eireann say; “Polar maritime airflow becomes established over the country tomorrow and persists through much of the week. Cold with frequent wintry showers, gales and the risk of coastal flooding on Atlantic coasts due to high seas.”
Monday night: A cold, and windy night is expected on Monday night into Tuesday morning with showers turning wintry, and winds gusting to gale force. Lowest temperatures of 0 to 3°C expected, frost in sheltered areas.
Tuesday: Winds starting to veer northwesterly on Tuesday, becoming increasingly blustery with strong gale force gusts expected. Showers will be widespread, and possibly wintry in many areas including Sleet, Snow, and Hail. A risk of thunder is also expected. Tuesday night, expecting wintry showers to become more widespread with lows of -1 to 2°C expected. Frost and icy conditions are expected.
Wednesday: Winds on Wednesday will ease for a time, though some breezy conditions remaining. Wintry showers will die out, and will tend to be less frequent than on Tuesday. A potential period of disruptive weather is expected on Wednesday night, as a deepening Atlantic depression is set to track close to parts of Ireland bringing rain and strong winds.
Thursday: Remaining very windy Thursday morning, and a risk of disruptive winds and scattered showers are possible. Winds should ease throughout the day veering northwesterly in direction on Thursday evening. Wintry showers may be possible, but not likely.
