UPDATE: 12:55 – Gardai are informing that a man has been arrested following this mornings shootings.

Gardai in Cork are searching for a lone gunman who is said to have shot and killed a dog and a horse, and then opened fire on a car in North Cork around 2.30am this morning.

The man said to be in his 30’s is thought to have left the scene in a 131 C registered black Toyota Corolla. 

The incident took place close to Newmarket, Co. Cork early this morning. Members of the Garda Regional Support Unit are currently searching for the suspect, and are also conducting door to door investigations.

The man is still said to be at large and in possession of a shotgun. If the car is seen, Gardai are encouraging not to approach it and to immediately call your local (or any) Garda Station.
