It’s come to our attention that there is a “voucher scam” currently circulating on Social Media indicating on that a free €500 Lidl “voucher” can be “won.” Upon clicking on the link which (more than likely) you have spotted on a friends Facebook profile, will ask you to complete a series of questions after entering your mobile phone number to proceed.

These scams are designed to obtain your personal information and could lead into types of fraud that may include identity theft.

The fine print on the website informs:

Earlier this year Aldi Ireland & SuperValu issued warnings of a similar scam that was doing the rounds on social media. Remember, if something seems too good to be true then it more than likely probably is. 

We reached out to Lidl Ireland for a statement and they replied to alert customers to only follow them on their official platforms with “blue ticks.”
