Gardaí have arrested and charged a man in his 30s in relation to the theft from two cars in Lisieux Park and Glasheen Road on the 23rd February, 2020.

Shortly before 10am, Gardaí in Togher Garda Station received a report of a suspicious man who was looking into parked cars in Ashford Estate.

Gardaí carried out a search of the area and found a man hiding in a driveway at Hillside Grove. He was found to be in possession of bluetooth speakers, sunglasses and a debit card that are believed to have been stolen from cars parked in Lisieux Park and Glasheen Road.

The man was arrested and brought to Togher Garda Station where he was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984. He has since been charged and is due to appear before Cork City District Court, tomorrow 24th February at 10.30am.

If anyone in the area notices anything that was stolen from their vehicle or that there was an attempt made to break into it, please contact Togher Garda Station on 021-494 7120

Speaking at Anglesea Street Garda Station, Crime Prevention Officer Sgt Tony Davis said “It is great to see that someone picked up the phone when they noticed something or someone that was a bit suspicious.

“When you park up your vehicle, make sure you bring all of your valuables with you if possible. Most importantly, make sure it is locked. Our figures from last year showed that one in every three vehicles that were broken into outside homes were not locked.”
