Togher Garda Station is closed this morning following an incident overnight, where a man in his 20’s attempted to set the station on fire at approximately 2AM.

The man entered Togher Garda Station with an aerosol can, and lighter and attempted to set the public office alight.

In a statement to Cork Safety Alerts, Gardaí say: “Considerable damage was done to the station which remains closed at this time as scenes of crime officers are currently investigating same. No persons were injured at the time.”

He was arrested at scene and is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Togher Garda Station. Investigations ongoing.
