Cork City Council issued a statement on the closure this afternoon via Twitter.

Cork City Council say that:
“The traffic junction at Boreenmanna Road/South Link Road is out of action as the traffic lights are being repaired.

Cork City Council crews were deployed to fix the traffic lights at Boreenmanna Road/South Link Road on Monday and had the lights back in operation at 3.30pm. Unfortunately, the controller stopped working later that evening.

Crews were asked to close Boreenmanna Rd and are on site again today working to resolve the issue.

Cork City Council believes a supply cable to the controller may have been compromised and that a new cable will have to be run to the site. The junction will remain out of action until we can replicate the cable which is a priority operation. We thank you for your patience.”
