Gardaí have arrested a man in his 20s in relation to robbery and assault incident that occurred on the 1st December, 2019 on Castle Road, Bandon.

The arrest was made this morning and the man is currently detained at Bandon Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.


 

Gardaí are investigating an abduction attempt in Bandon, which took place yesterday morning.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses in relation to a robbery and assault incident that occurred on the 1st December, 2019 on Castle Road, Bandon.

A woman, 19, was alone while walking along Castle Street, Brandon as she was approached by a man who attempted to drag her to a car park close by.

Shortly after 3am, a woman was walking on Castle Road when she was approached by a male. The male stole her handbag, knocked her to the ground and assaulted her. Three men who were in the area at the time, happened upon the incident and came to the woman’s assistance.

The woman did not require medical attention at the time of the incident. No arrests have been made.

The suspect is described as being 6ft tall and was wearing black clothing with “PUMA” across his jumper.

The scene had been sealed off for forensic examination. Door to door enquiries are also taking place.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who was in the Castle Road area of Bandon between 2:45am and 3:30am on the 1st December and who may have witnessed the incident to contact them.
