Gardaí in Skibbereen are investigating a fatal road traffic collision that occurred this afternoon, Sunday 7th April, 2019 at approximately 1p.m. on the N71 in the townland of Aghills, Skibbereen, Co. Cork.

A woman pedal cyclist (late 40s) was fatally injured when in collision with a car. The driver of the car, a woman in her late 50s was uninjured. The body of the deceased has been removed to Cork University Hospital where a post mortem will take place.

Garda Forensic Collision Investigators are at scene and the road is currently closed to facilitate the examination of the scene and local traffic diversions are in place.
