16:20 Update: 2 men aged in their 30’s have been arrested in connection to the earlier armed robbery of a post office in Little Island. The men were arrested in the Glanmire area at around 2.30pm today.

They remain at Mayfield and Gurranabraher Garda Stations under Section 30 Offences Against the State Act 1939.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses in relation to a robbery at a post office in Little Island that occurred this morning, 23rd May 2019 at approximately 9:30am.

Two men armed with what is believed to be a handgun and an iron bar entered the post office, threatened staff and left the scene with a small sum of cash. No staff member was injured during the incident.

The two men were left the scene in a black 05 C registered car which has damage on either side. No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
