Cork Kerry Community Healthcare has launched a new guide to staying active and healthy called “Fit to Flourish”.

The authors, Fiona O’Shea and Teresa Twohig, hope that it will guide people to make good lifestyle choices, enjoy the benefits of a healthy lifestyle and prevent longterm disease.

Printed copies of the booklet are available from Primary Care Centre physiotherapy departments in Cork or by contacting Fiona O’ Shea on [email protected].The booklet  can be downloaded as a PDF from hse.ie at this link  or from www.thewellbeingnetwork.ie

Fiona O’Shea and Teresa Twohig are Senior Primary Care Physiotherapists in Cork city, working with Cork Kerry Community Healthcare.

They explained that they take a holistic approach to health.

We look at one’s physical activity and other lifestyle factors that impact on one’s health and wellbeing, such as healthy eating, sleep and stress,” they said.

Tips in the booklet include:

  • How to encourage physical activity.
  • How difficult (or not) exercise needs to be to reap benefits.
  • Tips for better sleep
  • Managing fatigue
  • Top strategies for managing stress.
