Shortly after 14:00 today, customers on the Vodafone Network started reporting issues with both Mobile Data and Fixed Line Broadband (ourselves included!) Customers took to Twitter to make the telecommunications giant aware of the issue. The Down Detector website had 1938 reports within an hour.

Vodafone announced that they were investigating a ‘potential’ issue at approximately 16:10. Customers at this point were still unable to access both Mobile and Landline internet. One customer expressed their dissatisfaction that there was no communication other than on Social Media from Vodafone:

Calls to Vodafone’s helpline were also down, and many customers reporting that the call was simply disconnecting.

The issue was resolved a few hours later, at approximately 19:30 and Vodafone tweeted an update to let customers know that the issue had been resolved.

The issue didn’t just affect customers in Ireland it seems. According to Sky News, customers in Ireland, the UK, Portugal, German, Greece and Italy all experienced issues. Vodafone had confirmed that the outage was due to a failure of an international link which also caused disruption around the globe (as far as Australia and India.)
