Cork continues to experience significant adverse weather with prolonged heavy rainfall being experienced, which will continue this evening.

This large volume of rain has further swollen already-high river levels across the city. Therefore, river flooding is predicted to continue across the city for some hours yet.

Rivers, which have burst their banks, will become more dangerous as night falls as visibility and reaction distances will be impaired.

As advised yesterday, this is a 48 hour event which is continuing and will not come to an end until late tomorrow afternoon/evening, Wednesday.

Cork City Council continues to liaise with other response agencies and remains ready to respond to issues as they arise.
