Garda are investigating following an incident in Clonakilty where a 9 year olds face was licked by a man in his 70s.

In a statement to Cork Safety Alerts, the Gardai say: 

Gardaí in Clonakilty are investigating the alleged assault of a young boy (9) in Clonakilty on Saturday 15 August 2020.

Shortly before 2pm Gardaí responded to an alleged incident on Pearse Street, Clonakilty. A man in his 70s was arrested at the scene and taken to Bandon Garda Station where he was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

He has since been released without charge. A file will be prepared for the DPP. Owing to the nature of the incident and age of the victim no further details are available at this time.
