Cork City Council wants to ensure the health and well-being of everyone in our city.
Due to the government’s implementation of Level Three Covid restrictions from Tuesday December 1st, Cork City Council announces the following changes to some of its services:
Public offices:
Cork City Council continues to provide essential public services.
Our public counters in City Hall, Anglesea Street, Cork will reopen from tomorrow, Tuesday 1st December, from 10 – 4 pm, Monday to Friday.
However, we are asking residents, business and communities to telephone our Customer Service Unit at 021 492 4000 or to visit our website www.corkcity.ie before coming to City Hall.
For your safety, strict social distancing measures will be in place including:
- Meetings by appointment where possible;
- Supervised queuing system outside the building;
- Limitation on numbers in the building;
- Maximum of two callers per household.
Many of our services are available online or over the phone so you may be able to avoid an unnecessary journey. Our dedicated Customer Service team will help you to make an appointment with the right department, should you need one.
The following services can be accessed online or over the phone in the following ways:
Housing:
- HAP tenants can contact the Council via the Customer Service Unit at 021 492 4000, email [email protected] or via corkcity.ie
- The Accommodation Placement Unit is now located at City Quarter, Lapps Quay and can be telephoned at 021 – 4924248or by email [email protected]
- Housing tenants with urgent queries, including emergency housing maintenance repairs, can contact our Customer Service Unit at 021 492 4000.
Parking:
On street parking charges continue to apply during level 3.
Paul Street and North Main Street Multi-Storey Car Parks
North Main Street and Paul Street car parks will open early on Sunday mornings in advance of the Christmas period.
The current promotion continues – customers can avail of two hours free in Paul Street and North Main Street, from 07:00 – 00:00, Monday – Sunday.
Paul Street
- Open at 9.00 on Sundays 22nd, 29th November,
- Open at 7.30 on Sunday, 6th 13th, 20th, 27th December.
- Early close at 18.30 on Christmas Eve
- Closed Christmas Day, Stephen’s Day and New Year’s Day.
- Early close at 18.30 on New Years Eve
- Open at 10.00 on 3rd January, 2021.
- Normal 11.30 Sunday opening hours will resume on 10th January, 2021
North Main Street
- Revised hours to commence on Sunday, 22nd November:
- Open at 9.00 on Sunday 6th, 13th, 20th, 27h December.
- Early close at 18.30 on Christmas Eve
- Closed Christmas Day, Stephen’s Day and New Year’s Day.
- Early close at 18.30 on New Years Eve
- Normal 11.30 Sunday opening hours resume on Sunday 3rd January, 2021
Park & Ride
Black Ash Park & Ride is open. Updates will be issued shortly on Christmas arrangements.
The following services are available online at www.corkcity.ie :
- Resident parking permit applications;
- Payment of parking fines;
- Parking fine appeals can be posted or emailed to [email protected].
We ask residents, businesses and communities to visit www.corkcity.ie or to call our Customer Service Unit at 021 492 4000 for help and to arrange any necessary appointments.
Community Response Forum
The Cork City Covid-19 Community Response Forum remains in operation 7 days a week from 9am-5pm. This forum is in place to ensure that vulnerable members of our community in Cork City or those living alone can access vital grocery, medicine and fuel deliveries and social care supports.

Parks and Recreation:
- All Cork City Council parks, playgrounds and allotments remain open;
- Leisureworld Bishopstown and Leisureworld Churchfield will open from Tuesday December 1;
- Gus Healy Swimming Pool in Douglas will reopen to clubs and schools from Tuesday December 1;
- St Peters on North Main St reopens on December 1 from Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. until 4 p.m;
- Mahon Golf Course will reopen from Tuesday December 1;
- Old Cork Waterworks will reopen to the public from Wednesday December 9.
Libraries:
- Cork City Libraries will re-open for borrowing from 2 December 2020. The Reference Library and Local Studies are closed to readers and will be operating a phone and email service only.
- Douglas Library is closed while preparing to re-open in Douglas Shopping Centre in late December.
- The City Library, Grand Parade will re-open for Phone and Collect only until further notice, due to essential refurbishment and maintenance.
Before you visit our libraries, please read their Covid-19 Page for full information on our Covid-19 measures. We will be unable to offer public computers, photocopying or printing, or study spaces at this time. Maximum numbers will apply and wearing of face coverings is mandatory.
All memberships due to expire in the coming weeks have been extended until 1 April 2021.
All items due back have been renewed until 12 January 2021.
There are no fines.

Cork Public Museum:
Cork Public Museum will be open from Tuesday December 1 from 10am.
Opening hours are Monday – Friday 10am – 4pm.
Covid-19 restrictions and structures will be in place and access to some galleries will be limited.
Masks must be worn by all visitors.
