Update:

We’ve been contacted by an engineer for Cork County Council and have been advised that the cameras are being used for recording traffic to help build a model for the M20 Cork – Limerick Motorway. They will be in place for 24 – 48 hours and are not enforcement cameras.

We’ve been contacted by a number of concerned followers over the past 24 hours, all asking the same question. What’s the story with the cameras installed on various bridges over the M8 Cork – Dublin Road?

These are most likely traffic survey cameras, measuring statistics such as traffic volume, speed, and journey times. As far as we’re aware, they are not used for speed enforcement, and are not speed cameras.

We’ve made some enquiries, and as soon as we have a definite answer – we’ll update you here!
